Professional Experience
Accomplished professional with 25+ years of experience in nonprofit workforce development, philanthropy, and corporate finance. I am passionate about mission driven community work having achieved impactful results with 9 personal merit awards for nonprofit excellence, entrepreneurship, and leadership.
As Founder, Executive Director/CEO, and Board Member (2004-2018) of ParentJobNet, Inc., an award-winning nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, I successfully mobilized a grassroots movement with over 100 businesses and hundreds of corporate volunteers to help over 16,000 low-income public school parents gain employment and build financial security to help their children succeed. Based in New York City public schools, the organization served these families with holistic workforce and educational programs, connected them to hundreds of jobs, improved their financial literacy, and received 16 (9 personal + 7 organizational) workforce development merit awards under my leadership.
Having had a remarkably successful track record in the nonprofit industry leading the programmatic, operational, fundraising, marketing communication, and board development mandates of the organization gave me a whole new appreciation and a unique perspective of the intricacies of nonprofits. This priceless experience has paved the way to who I am today -- a seasoned and knowledgeable nonprofit professional.
Prior to starting my nonprofit, I worked on Wall Street as a financial services professional at large institutional investment companies in a variety of positions ranging from portfolio management, institutional client services, and training/development.
An avid lifetime learner, I am actively involved in Toastmasters International and held a leadership position as Vice President of Education at a local New York Chapter. Additionally, I am a nonprofit advisor, served in various capacities on nonprofit boards and volunteered for many causes over the years.
Running the NYC 26.2-mile Marathon and zip-lining 4,300 feet above Costa Rica's longest rainforest are among my bucket list achievements.
I have a Master’s Degree in Nonprofit Management, Fundraising, and Philanthropy from New York University (NYU) and a Bachelor’s Degree from Pace University. In addition, I've done post graduate studies at Columbia University and hold professional certifications in financial portfolio management (NYU), training and development, and project management.
