Professional Experience
John Irwin
Philanthropic Partner
With over 40 years of experience in the textile and apparel industry, I am deeply committed to corporate social responsibility—supporting nonprofits and local communities through the work of POP Social Enterprise, LLC, while actively engaging in philanthropic initiatives.
My journey began alongside my father, who was President of Mark Textiles in Los Angeles. He introduced me to the heart of the garment industry—sales and production—instilling in me a strong foundation and a problem-solving mindset that allowed me to connect with customers in meaningful and effective ways. This experience laid the groundwork for my own business ventures in New York, where I’ve focused on the fashion side of textiles and innovative textile solutions.
Today, as President of POP Fabrics, Inc. (formerly Malibu Textile, Inc.), my mission is to source and develop the highest-quality fashion fabrics while championing sustainability and social impact. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of traveling the world to grow our operations—transforming the company from a domestic manufacturer into a global development firm serving clients across the USA, UK, Australia, Canada, and beyond.
At POP Fabrics, corporate social responsibility is more than a value—it’s our driving force. We are proud to offer ethically sourced, responsibly produced textiles and support organizations that uplift local communities. Our reputation for excellence is built on a foundation of integrity, innovation, and sustainability.
We’re especially proud of our latest sustainable innovations, including BCI cotton laces and novelty fabrics that reflect the industry’s growing demand for eco-conscious materials.
I hold a B.S. in Management Information Systems from California State University, Northridge, and remain passionate about advancing the textile industry through responsible, fashion-forward solutions—all while giving back to the communities we serve.
